      Find Your Zen: A Journey into Meditation - 6 Week Series  Every Friday starting September 13 to October 25 (No class on Friday, October 11) Time: 7- 8 pm Find your Zen: A Journey into Meditation is about discovering inner peace, tuning into your higher self, nourishing yourself mind, body, and soul, and learning how to build a solid meditation practice.  Because we are constantly bombarded with information on a daily basis, our to-do lists are consistently growing larger, and we are experiencing increased stress at work and at home, meditation helps to ground us, to find peace, and to turn down the volume of our monkey brains.  Taking time to give yourself stillness so you can tune into your divine self  is an act of self-love. We take care of our bodies with good food and exercise, but rarely do we take care of our minds and our emotional health. Even if you feel that you struggle with quieting the monkey-brain long enough to effectively meditate, this workshop can provide you with the right tools to train your brain into a state of peacefulness and stillness. Scientific research has shown that meditation has many physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits, including, decreasing stress and anxiety, improving mental focus/clarity, decreasing blood pressure, improving sleep, increasing mindfulness, improving memory, and increasing self-awareness. Whether you are just starting to meditate or you have meditated for years, this meditation workshop is suitable for all levels. What to expect from this workshop:  Register for the group of 6 classes or register for individual classes.  Whatever speaks to you!  September 13 - Releasing/Letting Go: This evening is the full moon, which is all about releasing and letting go. When we build a wall around us or hold on to things too tightly or for too long, we can create blockages, preventing energy to flow freely. This meditation will focus on releasing those blockages that hold us back from achieving what we want. By letting go, we are making space for something new to enter in. We will also use a mantra meditation that will help release blockages and surrender to the Universe.  September 20 - Loving Kindness Meditation: Metta or loving kindness is a guided meditation to allow more love to flow towards yourself and then out towards others. Sometimes we close off our hearts, protecting ourselves from further hurt. This meditation will dive deep into the heart to allow love to flow freely so healing can begin and peace can be found. September 27- Grounding Meditation: This meditation is about grounding yourself. As fall begins to set in and the colours of the leaves begin to change, we will be bringing the elements of nature into this meditation. You will be guided on a journey of connecting to the earth where you will feel strong in your body, quiet in your mind, and connected to your higher self as you allow the earth to nourish you.  October 4 - Pranayama: We tend to hold our breath several times throughout the day, not really realizing it. We also tend to have shallow breathing, especially when stressed. This class will focus on a breathing meditation and the different ways to use breath meditation to help with focus, clarity, and to move energy.  October 18 - Chakra Journey Meditation: This is a guided journey through the chakras. Each chakra will be given attention, helping to balance and open each chakra to work more effectively. When one chakra is out of balance, it affects the other chakras. This meditation will help to bring your chakras back into balance to align your body, mind and soul.  October 25 - Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra or Yogic sleep is like having a 2 hour nap because you reach full body relaxation and a deep state of consciousness.
